Dr. Ron Crews

Chaplain (COL) USAR Retired, and wife Jonda

Dr. Ron Crews and his wife Jonda serve as the Pastoral Care Team for chaplains, candidates, and families endorsed by mPact Churches. Ron served as the mPact  Endorser from 2008-2022. He came to mPact after completing a tour of duty as a mobilized reserve chaplain serving as the Deputy Installation Chaplain for Programs at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. This tour culminated a 28-year career as an Army chaplain on active duty and in the reserve component.

Chaplain Crews recently retired from being Executive Director of Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty (CALL), an organization of chaplain endorsers he helped to found. CALL was instrumental in writing the religious liberty protections passed in the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act.

His prior civilian ministry includes serving as President for the Massachusetts Family Institute (MFI), a non-profit research and educational organization dedicated to strengthening the family, a ministry in association with Focus on the Family Ministries.

He also served as senior pastor of New Covenant Community Church (Evangelical Presbyterian) in Chamblee, Georgia. During this period, he also served as a State Representative in the Georgia General Assembly from1993 through 1998.

His military ministry includes serving on active duty as a Battalion Chaplain in the 82nd Airborne Division. He later served in the Georgia Army National Guard and the Massachusetts Army National Guard where he was appointed the Joint Forces Chaplain for the state.

Dr. Crews received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stetson University, a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
His military awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (third award), Army Commendation Medal (fourth award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (second award), National Defense Service Medal, War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces National Guard Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Oversees Training Ribbon, Olympic Service Ribbon, Airborne Jump Wings, Massachusetts Meritorious Service Medal, Georgia Meritorious Service Medal, Georgia Commendation Medal, Georgia Humanitarian Service Medal, Georgia National Guard Service Medal, and the Georgia State Active Duty Ribbon (1 Star).

He and his wife Jonda live in Gainesville, GA, and have four children and five grandchildren – so far.
